One of the joys of staying in Ridgefield during the summer is that your days can be wonderfully full — slow mornings on the veranda, walks through the gardens, bird watching at the refuge, and of course brunch here at the house. While we happily handle breakfast and brunch, dinner is your chance to explore a little of what makes this corner of the Pacific Northwest so special.

Below are a few of our personal favorite dinner spots, ranging from casual local gems to destination-worthy evenings out.

A quick note before dinner: if you haven’t yet visited the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, it is truly a must-see. The refuge driving loop and walking trails are especially beautiful in the golden evening light and often become one of our guests’ favorite memories from their stay.

Our Summer Dinner Favorites

• The Nest
A relaxed local favorite attached to a brewpub atmosphere with consistently excellent food. Their fresh fish & chips are exceptional, and the smoked carrots are unexpectedly one of the standout dishes in town.

• 4th Street Bar & Grill
An upscale tavern-style spot popular with locals. Their back patio is especially lovely on summer evenings and makes for an easy, comfortable dinner after a day exploring the area.

• Neighborhood Refuge
Probably the best craft cocktails and ambiance in Ridgefield, with beautiful views and an evolving seasonal dinner menu. It can become quite busy in summer, so service occasionally varies, but for drinks and atmosphere it’s hard to beat.

• Little Conejo
Our pick for the best authentic tacos in the region. Casual, vibrant, and right in downtown Ridgefield — perfect for an easy summer evening.

• Kalama Harbor Lodge
About 15 minutes north on I-5 and well worth the drive. More of a destination evening than just dinner, with river views, an open-air market nearby, and a lovely walking path along the waterfront.

Of course, many guests also enjoy spending an evening at ilani Resort & Casino, which offers a wide variety of dining experiences from casual to upscale. ilani Dining Options

A few favorites there include:

• Longhouse
Our personal favorite at ilani for sushi and a more romantic atmosphere. The menu blends Japanese, Cantonese, and Vietnamese influences beautifully.

• Sovereign Steakhouse
The resort’s newer upscale steakhouse concept featuring premium Northwest-inspired dining and refined interiors.

• Bella Vista
A newer Italian dining option with sweeping views toward Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams — and even glimpses toward the Allen House barn on a clear evening.

If you’d like recommendations based on mood — date night, casual patio, cocktails, vegetarian-friendly, scenic drive, or best late-night option — we’re always happy to help point you in the right direction.
